Brand new ODA X3-2 fails to boot

Hit an interesting issue – a brand new unboxed X3-2 ODA fails to boot into an OS. It just goes through the various boot options including PXE, and then ends on a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen.

Strange you might think.

Unboxed and hooked up the second ODA, same thing.

It turns out to be because of unpublished bug 18078989. A fairly large number of ODA X3-2 units have left the factory with no image.

So if you are lucky enough to receive one of these special units and find it failing to boot, don’t be afraid to just re-image it straight away!
